I think the real reason Burton's films lack diversity is because they mostly take place in a time and era where diversity was lacking, which I think he was trying to say, but he said it badly. A lot of the characters were locked in from the previous Disney movie, but in Disney Descendants Cruella DeVil was cast as a woman of colour. Alice In Wonderland probably could have a more diverse Wonderland. Miss Peregrine - Based on a small welsh island during WWIIĪpart from 3 films Burton is pretty locked in with setting.Dark Shadows - Period and suburban drama.Sweeney Todd- See Sleepy Hollow and Corpse Bride.Maybe the golden ticket winners could have been more international Batman till then was largely a comic character, with the readers and audience both failing to recognize the traumatic story of the hero behind the mask. ![]()
